## About Poke Battle

Pick six of the 12 Pokémon (Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Gengar, Lucario, Garchomp, Gardevoir, Gyarados, Snorlax, Greninja and Sceptile); the first one you pick leads, and the computer rival takes the other six. Every Pokémon comes with a ready-made competitive set (nature, EVs, ability, held item and four moves) shown on the team screen, so there's no team building to learn first. Each turn you choose a move or switch, and the turn plays out on a stadium field: contact moves dash in, beams and shots fly across, misses become dodges, and the faster Pokémon moves first.

Underneath, it runs the standard competitive mechanics at level 50: the official damage formula with the same-type bonus, the type chart, critical hits and the random damage roll; move priority and Speed order; stat stages from moves such as Swords Dance, Dragon Dance and Shell Smash; burn, paralysis, poison, sleep and freeze; rain, harsh sunlight and Trick Room; and abilities including Intimidate, Protean and Rough Skin. Each Pokémon holds a different item, from Focus Sash and Choice Scarf to Assault Vest and type-resist berries. Hover over a move, or hold it on a phone, to see its power, its accuracy, roughly how much damage it would do and who would move first.

Every move has its own animation and sound, each Pokémon uses its real cry, and an original chiptune soundtrack speeds up as the battle gets tense. You can set the rival to Easy, Normal or Hard. It suits anyone who wants to learn how competitive singles works, or practise matchups, without building a team or waiting for another player. It plays on a computer with the mouse or keyboard, or on a phone held upright or sideways.

## FAQ

### Is Poke Battle free?

Yes. Poke Battle is free to play in your browser, with no ads, no download and no sign-up. It's an unofficial, non-commercial fan game.

### Is there a Pokémon battle game I can play online for free?

Yes. Poke Battle is a free Pokémon battle game that plays online in your browser: pick six of 12 Pokémon and fight a full 6v6 singles battle against the computer under the standard competitive rules. You can play it right here on Unfound or at poke-battle-game.vercel.app.

### Is Poke Battle a Pokémon battle simulator like Pokémon Showdown?

It follows the same kind of rules: the official damage formula, abilities, held items, stat stages and weather at level 50. The difference is that Poke Battle pits you against a computer rival with ready-made sets for its 12 Pokémon, so there's no team building and no waiting for an opponent. Pokémon Showdown is for battling other players with teams you build yourself.

### Which Pokémon are in Poke Battle?

Twelve: Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Gengar, Lucario, Garchomp, Gardevoir, Gyarados, Snorlax, Greninja and Sceptile. Each has one competitive set with its own held item, and the rival gets the six you don't pick.

### Can I play Poke Battle on my phone?

Yes. It has layouts for a phone held upright or sideways: tap a move to use it, and hold it to see what it does and how hard it would hit. On a computer, press 1 to 4 to pick a move and S to switch.

### How hard is the computer in Poke Battle?

You choose Easy, Normal or Hard on the team screen. The rival estimates damage with the real formula, looks at who moves first and uses status moves and stat boosts when they pay off; on Normal and Hard it also switches out of matchups it can't win. Hard rarely misses the best play, and Easy plays loosely.
