About Vine Whipped

Two teams of Bulbasaur face off across a river that nobody can walk over. Your Vine Whip is the hook: throw it across the water to catch a foe and drag them onto your side, where your team can knock them out while they wade slowly home. Vine Whip takes 3.2 seconds to recharge and you stand still while it's out, so every miss leaves you open. Enemy vines that meet yours clash and both snap back, rocks block throws, and tall grass hides you until you attack or a foe comes close. Whip a teammate who's been dragged across and you pull them home. The first team to the knockout target wins (15 in a 3 vs 3), or whoever leads when the six-minute clock runs out, with sudden death on a tie.

Hits, knockouts, assists and rescues all earn XP. Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur at level 4, which adds Sleep Powder, and into Venusaur at level 8, which adds Solar Beam, a charged beam across the field; Poison Powder and an automatic Tackle are there from the start. In computer matches Ivysaur usually arrives about 45 seconds in and Venusaur about two minutes in. Each level-up offers three boost cards, from a longer or quicker vine to Ricochet, which bounces vines off rocks, and Leech Vine, which heals you as you hit; one is picked for you after 12 seconds. Power-ups float down the river (Sitrus Berry, Rare Candy, X Speed, X Attack, Quick Claw and Protect), and you whip them out of the current or walk into them.

Teams run from 1 vs 1 to 5 vs 5 against computer players on Easy, Normal or Hard, and a short guided tutorial walks you through throwing, finishing a foe, grabbing a berry, rescuing a teammate, picking a boost and evolving. On a phone held sideways, a stick walks and a tap on the field throws the vine there. On a computer, right-click walks and left-click or Q throws at the cursor, like the original map, with W, E and R for the other moves, and there's a keyboard-only layout too. The music is original chiptune.

Is there a Pudge Wars game I can play in a browser?

Yes. Vine Whipped is a free browser game after the Warcraft III custom map Pudge Wars: two teams face each other across a river, and Bulbasaur's Vine Whip is the hook that drags foes to your side. You play against computer players for now, in teams of up to 5 vs 5.

Is there a Bulbasaur game I can play online?

Yes. In Vine Whipped you play Bulbasaur in a team battle across a river, and evolve into Ivysaur and Venusaur as you level up during the match. It plays free in your browser, right here on Unfound or at vine-whipped.vercel.app.

How do you play Vine Whipped?

Throw Vine Whip across the river to catch a foe and drag them to your side, then knock them out before they wade home. On a phone, the stick walks and a tap on the field throws the vine there; on a computer, right-click walks and left-click or Q throws at the cursor. The first team to the knockout target wins, or whoever leads after six minutes.

Does Bulbasaur evolve in Vine Whipped?

Yes, during every match: into Ivysaur at level 4, which adds Sleep Powder, and into Venusaur at level 8, which adds Solar Beam. You earn XP from hits, knockouts, assists and rescues, and each level-up lets you pick one of three boosts.

Can I play Vine Whipped on my phone?

Yes, held sideways: a stick walks, a tap on the field throws Vine Whip there, and the other moves have their own buttons. Added to your home screen, it opens full screen in landscape.
