How we chose these games

We started from the 19 Pokémon fan games on our full list, each checked free and playable in a browser with no download, sign-up or ads, and kept the six built around clicking or idling: progress that comes from clicks, or that keeps coming while you watch or step away. On 26 October 2026 we also opened the idle games Google shows for these searches; Pokechill passed, and PokAidle, which its developer has closed, didn't. They're ordered by what players say: GitHub stars, Reddit reception and how long people have kept playing.

Every game here was checked on Oct 26, 2026 to be free and to run in a web browser with no download. Editors are playtesting each one for a full review; scores appear once that is done.

Pokémon idle games: questions people ask

What is the best Pokémon clicker game?

PokéClicker. It has been free in browsers since 2016, it's open source with 720 stars on GitHub, and it's still updated. You click to attack wild Pokémon route by route, catch them to fill your Pokédex and work through gyms and dungeons; as your team grows, the clicking matters less and it turns into an idle collector.

Which Pokémon idle game plays itself?

PokeIdle is the most hands-off: put your team on a route and it fights wild Pokémon by itself while you collect levels, Pokédex entries and shinies. PokéBox is calmer still, a box of Pokémon that grow, breed and pass on while you watch, and Pokechill keeps your team fighting while you're away.

Can I play Pokémon idle games on my phone?

Pokémon Idle and Pokechill play well on a phone; Pokechill is laid out like a phone app. PokéClicker, PokeIdle and PokéBox work on a phone but are slow to start and laid out for a bigger screen. Pokemon Incremental downloads 68 MB before it starts, so it's best on a computer.

How do I keep my progress in a browser idle game?

These games save in your browser, so clearing your browsing data or switching browsers loses the save. PokéClicker and PokeIdle have export options for backing it up, and Pokemon Incremental's developer warns that older saves may break while it's in development, so export often.

What's the difference between a clicker and an idle game?

In a clicker you make progress by clicking; in an idle game progress keeps coming while you watch or step away. Most of these mix the two: PokéClicker starts as a clicker and turns idle, Pokemon Incremental adds prestige resets like The Tower, and PokeIdle and PokéBox barely need you at all.

Are these Pokémon idle games free?

Yes. All six are free, with no ads, no sign-up and nothing to buy to keep playing. They're unofficial fan games, made without permission from Nintendo or The Pokémon Company.
